Pot Stands

Purpose made stands from tiles with integral ceramic feet and glazed all over.

Mintons Ltd made more than any other company many featuring pictures of tourist sites and it is assumed that they were sold as gitware and momentos. Views from around Edinburgh, the Derbyshire Peak District and Warwickshire around Stratford upon Avon feature, these views do appear on tiles too but less often than most other picture series. Views from unusual places are seen from time to time as if one retailer had the pattern made for them, surprisingly there are no views of the most popular tourist destination, London.

Other picture series from Mintons appear, the Abbeys series again presumably made at least in part for the tourist trade, Wise and Swetnam engravings etc. Also from time to time floral patterns not normally found on tiles come to market, it is presumed that these are tableware patterns and were sold alongside dinner services. They made a few in majolica around 1900 and occassionally hand painted studio pot stands are seen

Trivets are also seen as advertising items with the names of the retailer for whom they were made on the underside.
