A lovely pair of children's portrait
tiles, well modelled and moulded and finished
in super brilliant glazes. The designs are
seen from time to time but almost invariably
monochrome, in catalogues they are shown in
monoachrome as parts of panels for fireplace
cheeks with a double middle tile. These came
from a fireplace but were the feature tiles,
we purchased three pairs. Very bright and
charming tiles of which I have not seen
better examples for at least fifteen
years. Versos clean but slightly grubby, one
embossed England. Condition: Excellent Left: Chip/wear top left corner, very tiny chip
near bottom right corner, couple marks from the
fireplace frame near left edge, other very minor
marks. Right: Very fine, minute rim chips/roughness,
very minor surface marks.
