Condition Report

Very small chip bottom edge and a few other very tiny/minute edge chips/roughness, two surface chips, one tiny, one very tiny, other exceedingly minor marks. With high relief and brilliant glazes it catches the light superbly and is a bright and appealing tile.

A super tile moulded both in good relief and with an indented background in complex aesthetic style. Superb colours and brilliant glazes, very rare. I have had examples of this pattern in my collection with yellow or blue flowers for maybe twenty years plus and have seen them on other occassions too, these are the very first I have seen with a coloured background, something I have been looking out for as the quality of the moulding is clear even in colourless glazed backgrounds when it doesn't show nearly as well. This is a fabulous design in these colours, the design in lesser colours even makes it in to books devoted to art nouveau tiles.

Ollivant are an underrated manufacturer who produced a fairly limited range of designs but of outstanding quality for such a small and largely unrecognised company.

Verso slightly rust stained, no adhesive residue, C.O.V. and England embossed and painted pattern number.

A very small chip right side, a few tiny edge chips, a couple of surface scratches but for the most part the surface is excellent with brilliant colours and glazes.

Verso very clean, embossed C. O. V. and England, painted pattern number.

The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format and on screen is about the size as it would be in real life at the same distance. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light. For more details of how we describe marks see Condition.
