Condition: Near
perfect Minute glaze chip upper right. Style; Portrait/profile A group of tiles from an uncommon series of
twelve known as 'Female Heads' but perhaps a
more descriptive title would be better. The
subjects appear to be women of different
nationalities and the fruit or flowers behind
them may have significance too perhaps also
nationalities or seasons, perhaps "Maidens of
the World' may be more apt. Printed in a super
bright blue on good white bodies this blue from
Minton Hollins I think consistently the best on
tile, one would have thought a pottery and tile
maker such as Wedgwood or Mintons Ltd would be
best at blue and white but Minton Hollins
produced the best colour and Maw the sharpest
good blue printing. Versos very clean, usual legend. Condition: Near
perfect Four minute rim chips, minor printing/glazing
flaws. Condition: Near
perfect Very tiny chip top edge, minute chip lower
right. Condition: Near
perfect One minute corner chip, manufacturing flaw lower
left. Condition:
Perfect Perfect.
