It was Mintons most popular transfer printed design and justifiably so, every collection should have one or two for it was made in a variety of colours. From the Léon Solon era, to my mind Mintons greatest period, and possibly by his hand When seeking broad appeal the designer has to cater to many tastes and here the designer has been successful. Though late 19thC we see the two predominant styles of the edwardian era, art nouveau and neo-classical, there is also a nod to aesthetic and arts & crafts. The design also works well as an individual tile and as a pilaster, frieze or panel, truly a work of genius.
