Style: Art nouveau An unusual design from Alfred Meakin, bold
and asymmetric looking rather more like a
bizarre creature from the depths of the ocean
than a flower, but some flowers can be pretty
wild. Embossed with a low relief outline with
some bobbles on the flower or creature's mouth,
looks a bit like tubeline indeed there is some
extra height where some of the lines meet.
There's also some subtle impressed pattern on
the leaves which adds considerably to the skill
and difficult of modelling the original die or
pattern plate. Oft seen in dull earth tones,
this with fabulous turquoise and brilliant
glazes. Versos very clean, embossed A. M. Ltd,
England , stamped pattern number. Very tiny chip bottom right corner, one minute
glaze loss, perfect surface. Two minute chips to the outline. Tiny chip mid left edge, slight glaze loss to
the outline, minute chip bottom edge.
