Two tiny chips bottom edge, other minute rim
chips, surface very near perfect. Style: Aesthetic movement A very nice and rather rare transfer printed
tile with stylised sprigs and flowers, a small
central stylised flowerhead medallion and
borders somewhat akin to greek key patterns. The
body of sage coloured clay and just one colour
painted, what makes it rare is that it is just
the background that is painted, in lemon yellow,
I can't think of another example of a tile with
painted background and uncoloured foreground
details. Verso very clean with large clear
Staffordshire knot in triangle mark and pattern
number printed.
