Three tiny surface chips and a line near the
left edge from being held in a cast iron fireplace
frame. Excellent brilliance in the glazes. Style: Victoriana Absolute Victoriana, quintessential Victorian
design referencing rococo and gothic and with a
medallion-like flowerhead at the centre. Big,
bold, full and glossy - rich opulence, even
garish, yet in earth tones including mottled
foliate band. I could imagine this decorating
the inside of a Victorian theatre or inn. A
classic example of the genre which perhaps
surprisingly is not so often found on tiles with
such vivacity. Versos very clean unmarked save for painted
pattern number. Very tiny chip top left corner, a few minute rim
chips, four very tiny surface chips. Excellent
brilliance in the glazes. Two tiny surface chips, very tiny chips left
corners and some light surface marks. Excellent
brilliance in the glazes. Very tiny chip left edge, a couple of minute
chips on the edges and a line near the left edge
from the original fitting in an iron fireplace
frame. Excellent brilliance in the glazes.
