Very minor surface marks.
Style/technique: Aesthetic flora
print A most excellent design in super colours, not
the brilliant colours that are often sought by
collectors but excellent for its purpose.
Imagine this in a sedate interior, in furniture
or fireplace, surrounded by oak, perhaps a
library or board room. This design appears in the Mintons catalogue
only as part of a hearth layout but was no doubt
available individually, it will no doubt date
from around 1880. These are indeed hearth
thickness tiles but were framed and apparently
so from day one with no signs of any fixatives
apart from the nails marks which held them in
the frames. Versos grubby having been framed in open
backed frames. Very tiny surface chip near mid right edge,
other very minor surface marks. The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430
pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format, larger
120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format
can be forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than
cropped close to the edges so that the edges can
easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly
spotted. Other marks described are usually not
visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as
one normally sees it and can only be seen with a
critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch
imperfections in reflected light. For more details
of how we describe marks see Condition.
