shapes and the design is called Smiles! Wood & Co named their tile designs after
noted writers, Samuel Smiles was a Scottish
author and reformer and editor of the Leeds
Times for several years. Smiles is best known
today as the writer of books extolling virtues
of self help, and biographies lauding the
achievements of "heroic" engineers. He wrote a
book 'Industrial Biography' which is most
interesting and should be read by every student,
collector and dealer in industrially made
products.. Verso very clean, Wood's characteristic grid
grip pattern and painted pattern number. Tiny chip lower right, near perfect surface. Small chip top right corner, very tiny chip
lower right, minor manufacturing flaws, perfect
surface. Manufacturing flaw glazed over chip right edge,
no damage, perfect surface.
