Small chip top edge near right corner, more on
the edge than the face, a couple of tiny glaze
chips left edge, edges are slightly rough. A few
light scratches and general extremely light
scratches but not seen unless caught in the light.
The marks don't take too much away for it is a very
clean tile and displays well. Style/technique: Classical majolica A very pretty classical design, perhaps one
can just detect a hint of art nouveau. Made by
Gibbons Hinton of Stourbridge, can be seen on
their catalogue page reprinted in Austwick page
120 still not often seen. Lovely quality as one
expects from the company, decorated in six
colours including lavender and mauve. Verso perfectly clean unmarked save for
embossed pattern number.. The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430
pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format and on
screen is about the size as it would be in real
life at the same distance. A larger 120 dpi image
also in maximum quality JPEG format can be
forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than
cropped close to the edges so that the edges can
easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly
spotted. Other marks described are usually not
visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as
one normally sees it and can only be seen with a
critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch
imperfections in reflected light. For more details
of how we describe marks see Condition.
