Renaissance A quite bold in some ways ungainly but
nevertheless attractive renaissance style tile
from Minton Hollins. Printed in a super mid blue
and with 'burnt gold' painting overglaze. In 1871 following Reynold's defection to
rival Mintons Ltd Michael Hollins patented a
printing process for block printing without
requiring stone block, this may be an example of
it for the print is certainly quite distinctive,
it has a bold and yet soft feel. Verso perfectly clean, embossed Minton
Hollins & Co etc.
