A design of birds on a nest in high relief
pressed in strong buff clay and decorated with
opaque enamels richly coloured and with high
gloss. In high relief up to a fourth of an inch
(6mm) above the surface, this was leading edge
technology in the 1870s only a handful of
companies were able to make such high relief
tiles..
Verso very clean, usual embossed Minton
Hollins etc.
A tiny chip top edge, other minute rim
chips/roughness to the tip of the rim, rubbing
on the high points of the birds otherwise
perfect surface (mark mid left a manufacturing
flaw).
