Perfect. Style: Pictorial A superb example of the styles, techniques of
the mid edwardian era. Designed right at the
peak of art nouveau yet not art nouveau style
rather more literal any perceived styling due
mostly to the limitations of the technique. Such
is the nature of the genre despite they're being
almost inevitably described as art nouveau when
examples of the style are seen in transfer
print, especially monochrome, it becomes more
clear. Other pictorial/figural styles were on
the wane and somehow the dutch took over! This particular series of five is not quite
rare but definitely elusive, especially in great
condition. Similar designs were produced in
print, tubeline (esp notable being Charlotte
Rhead), print and majolica glaze, and
handpainted but I can't recall seeing any bas
relief, which is interesting. Verso very clean, embossed England and
registration number.
