Perfect, marks are manufacturing flaws. Style: Art
nouveau An excellent design, seen from time to time,
whilst grand flowerheads are generally preferred
by collectors this design creates a simialr
effect with the leaf swirling around. Lovely
shape of the flowerhead and a fabulous colour,
the dark olive background is fabulous too. As many tiles from furniture and fireplaces
these would have been seconds having
manufactuing flaws, that is not unusual indeed
it seems to me that the majority of majolica
tiles from fireplaces and furniture were seconds
the best quality reserved for wall fixings and
they disappeared with the walls of the buildings
when demolished or modernised. That said
condition is superb, if I had not removed them
from furniture myself I would have suspected
they had been refired. Not that refiring is a
negative if done right for it is less intrusive
than the widely accepted repolishing of a piece
of furniture. Versos near perfectly clean, three embossed
M. T. Ltd., England, the other with a later
'modified' grip. Perfect, marks are manufacturing flaws. Perfect, marks are manufacturing flaws. Perfect, marks are manufacturing flaws.
