Phenomenal quality of design and engraving, in Owen Gibbons distinctive style, made at the Jackfield works. Owen Gibbons trained at the South Kensington School of Art and was for a time, curator of the Royal Architectural Museum, Westminter, London before becoming head of the Coalbrookdale School of Art in Shropshire. Whilst there he designed a number of tiles for Maw & Co. He was also a principle in the company of Gibbons Hinton & Co. established by his brother Francis Gibbons in the mid-1880s.
