Touch of wear bottom left corner, some scuffing
to the high point, very tiny glaze miss right
edge. Style: Art nouveau Quite an unusual art nouveau design for few
art nouveau tiles have well stylised borders and
even fewer feature indented moulding. The centre
of a bursting bud or seed pod, perhaps
pomegranate, is quite high relief giving a good
graduation of glaze colour. I first saw this design about thirty years
ago and loved it even though the colours were
less inspiring, I had to split the full
fireplace I had to keep one for my collection.
I've been witing for so long to find it in
brighter colours and this is it. A good
substantial tile so presumably closer to 1900,
from sometime in the later edwardian era the
company mostly produced thinner tiles than
this. Verso near perfectly clean, embossed L. T.
England.
