Just touches of rubbing to a couple of high
points. Style: Floral A fabulous arts & crafts style floral
tile in brilliant earth tone glazes and super
quality throughout. Very interesting stylistically and in terms
of the genre, it makes one think of Marsden who
could not do a standard chequer tile. That is if
one even thinks of it as a chequer tile for one
may just as well consider it a trellis tile in
the arts and crafts manner such as the Longden
design by Morris & Co. I have seen the design, indeed I was offered
a set of ten, painted in two colours as a
chequer pattern two squares in mustard and two
in blue, not great colours and the blue was
rather too dark. Painted in great natural
colours it is very pleasing to the eye and with
the high relief and brilliant glazes a most
bright and attractive tile. Verso perfectly clean, Barratt's wheel grip
pattern and monogram.
