This is quite something, I have never seen
the like of it before. A domestic scene of a
page boy attending Mistress and with a dog's
head resting on her thigh.
The scene of a domestic interior and with a
page boy is itself exceptional the dog is
extraoridinary for there are few dogs seen in
domestic settings and this the only one I can
recall seeing where there is contact between dog
and owner.
The hatched background being incredibly rare
on tiles of any subject matter let alone figural
and then itself having a most unusual style is
furthermore exceptional.
Also that it is a large eight inch square
tile. And that it is perfect condition.
I have never seen the like and am not holding
my breath but certainly being alerted to the
existence of this perhaps there may be
others.
Verso unmarked the grip pattern unrecognised
however bearing some similarities to those by
William Wood and J & W Wade.
