Printed and Majolica Glazed Dutch Scene Tile • Condition: Near perfect • Price: £90 (approx $121) • Stock number: 07447 UK Special Delivery +£11 Europe Priority £16 US and World Priority £26 Currency Converter Ask a question Perfect rim, very minor surface marks.   • Style: Dutch • Technique: Printed and majolica glazed • Maker: Henry Richards • Dimensions: 6" x 6" • Date: 1935 (circa)   This decorating technique only really exploited by Richards the styles being figural dutch scenes, animals and very highly stylised art nouveau. The glazes are especially brilliant and not completely constrained by the oil resistant outline print giving a handmade arts & crafts feel. Many if not all of the dutch scene designs were also made tubeline for a more precise image yet still conforming to arts & crafts handmade sensibilities. This particular view is seen from time to time, what I find interesting about it is the dog on a lead. Such is not seen on english tiles, english tiles of english scenes that is, however this is not the only dog on lead on dutch scene tiles.
