Style: Nature study An uncommon tile panel of with a photograph
of the famous Landseer painting Stag at Bay,
made by this short lived company the founder
George Grundy having invented the process sold
it after a few years and moved on to other
ventures. There were many attempts at devising
methods of printing photographs on ceramics
Grundy was the first to succeed with a
commercially viable process, when nowadays
taking photographs and transferring them to and
viewing them in many types of media is so
commonplace it is easy to forget how little more
than a century ago just printing on a tile was
almost miraculous and represented the pinnacle
of current technology. The colour variation is
not uncommon, whilst the images were truly
represented on the tile colurs were variable
perhaps due to kiln temperatures. On Pilkington blanks, Grundy started by
purchasing best quality blanks from Pilkington
and Maw. Condition: Good Chipping bottom edge left tile, cleaning arks
