A superb pair of tile panels painted with
lively designs of daisies. On Minton, Hollins
& Co tiles most likely painted by a stained
glass studio for furniture to accompany stained
glass in a fine house.
An exceptional find, seven tile panels were
primarily found as a single row in washstands of
the 1870s and early 80s so quite why a pair of
these were made is a puzzle. The tiles are
numbered from 1 - 14 suggesting a single piece
of furniture so possibly a rare for the times
and style washstand with two rows of tiles
separated by wood or perhaps an architectural
fitting such as a chimneypiece or inglenook.
Individual tile images are shown below.
Versos embossed Minton, Hollins etc and
painted numbers for fitting sequence.
Fine condition, a few chips mostly bottom
corners where they are as well out of the way as
they may be, surfaces very near perfect.
